Hermit Crab Central News and Updates

July 14th, 2009
The second round of the Hermit Crab Vendor crabs came in the mail today, and they all seemed healthy besides two of the crabs.   I had ordered 4 Indos and one Ruggie.
Sadly, the Indo and Ruggie didn't seem to be doing too well.   And now, while the Indo managed to recuperate himself, the Ruggie did not.   I now believe him to be dead and shell-less in his own ISO moss pit using an old kritter keeper.
If you wish to see pictures on these crabs, please visit the HCC Gallery page.

For this update, I'd just like to mention that we have a new website search!   See the link to the left!   It's a great way to find just what you're looking for.   Just making the HCC bigger and better for everyone!
Additionally, I've become tired of the "HCC Newsletter" for a name for our e-newsletter here at the HCC.   So, I've created a contest in which all land hermit crab owners around can enter in a name for the newsletter!   Send any suggestions to [wearecrabby@live.com]. :)   I will select finalists and then place a poll up on this home page in September!

Such a long time and no update!   I've had a lot of other things at hand, such as a 16th birthday and getting my first job.   I am at work a lot now since I have free time in the summer and I don't have much time to most updates no the site, nor do I think they are completely necessary.
I have some exciting news coming up that may be happening in the near future!   I think I am going to purchase my own domain name and website and possibly open an organic hermit crab foodstore!   I am going to specialize in organic kibbles rather than specialty items, but definitely keep an eye open for this exciting update!   Hermit Crab Central very soon may be "The Coenobita Center" with an additional "Mount Kilimanjaro's Organic Crab Kibbles" store.
  Happy Crabbing!

It sure has been long since the previous update.   I just figured that I would let everyone know the site is becoming more inactive.   We are still sending out the newsletter, so please, continue to subscribe to that!
However, site updates will not occur as often as previous.   Due to school work, work, and many other life factors, the site cannot be updated as frequently as I would like to.   Additionally, my co-site manager has kind of left on me, so I am left to do the site updating by myself.

It's been a while since our last update!   Not much has gone on in the world of crabbing, so the site has remained the same.
However, we have added a new Featured Crab to the "Featured Crab" page!   Check it out!   Trista sent in her picture to our email address and won!   Congratulations, Trista!
Additionally, Kilimanjaro's Hermits Blog (www.kilimanjaroshermits.blogspot.com) has been staying updated, so please stop by and read the latest entries!
Don't forget, if you like our website, sign up for the newsletter!

  Hey, everyone!
We hope that we still have a number of visitors visiting the HCC everyday.   Although not much has been updated, there are still plenty of resources here!   We hope that visitors who visit often will spread the word about this site to make it have a larger traffic, and in turn, get more popularity!
In the mean time, there is a new photo contest winner posted.   Congratulations, Rosepetalbed!   Additionally, I hope that everyone will visit Kilimanjaro's Hermits (blog).   It's very informational and a great read!

  Hey, everyone!
Hermit Crab Central would just like to send out a message that although we haven't updated in a while, we are still running!   The Newsletter hasn't been emailed out for the past three months, but we are hoping to start again soon.
The arrival of the school season and settling down from summer has put us a bit behind, but we are working on catching up!
Thanks for staying patient and visiting our site!

  Happy September!
It's the last month of summer!   Finish up your harvesting if you haven't done so already!   There are plenty of plants to go ahead and pick away at right now.   Enjoy the last bits of the warm weather because if you live in a deciduous area, the cold is coming!   If you live in the south, then :P to you!
This update is just a quickie that explains that we have the August Photo Contest Winner up.   Take a look at that picture!   The newsletter was also sent out yesterday, so I hope our subscribers are enjoying that!   If you haven't subscribed, do it now!   We offer great, free, e-newsletters here at the HCC!

Happy August, crabbers!   We can't believe summer's almost at an end!   Take this opportunity to view the Harvestables list, get out to your library and rent a plant life book, and harvest the remainders of what is left before winter takes over!   Dry those goods!
Additionally, we'd like to mention a new page that has been created today.   Kilimanjaro's Nutrition Guide is now located under Hermit Crab Care and is usable by everyone who visits.   The nutrition guide includes   a food pyramid, food warnings, and many other things about hermit crab nutrition.   Take   a look!
Finally, we have added a new photo (August) contest winner!   Congratulations to CrabbyJoy!

Hermit Crab Central has a new logo!   Look to the right to see Tetracolor's hermit crab "Red" holding a sign.   That is now the official HCC logo!
Additionally, the site is going to be going through an update on the home page.   The links are going to be updated to be linkback images and the home page will look a little different!

A new current article has been posted under the Current Articles section.   Take a look!   This article, titled "Color Enhancement", is dedicated to keeping crabs looking healthy in the exoskeleton.   NaRnAR, the Happy Hermit Crab owner, has two kibbles dedicated to this exact purpose, along with many other great foods!
Have an idea for a current article?   Tell us by using the CONTACT US button at the top of this page!

Very sorry for the delay in posting on this site!   The person who runs most of the site and the updating has been on a leave for a while due to tons of stuff piling up at once.   It is horrible when life throws all of these lemons!
Anyway, the HCC is back and in full-power!   The June/July newsletter has been mailed out today to all of the subscribers.   Don't forget to add your email to the list by clicking on the Newsletter page!   If you're not subscribed, you're missing out!
The HCC is proud to announce that a new page is coming to replace the Mount Kilimanjaro's Store page.   This page, called "Harvestables" will talk about harvestable plants and foods that are edible for the hermit crabs.   This page should be up and running in a month or less!
The photo contest winner has not been updated, but a July winner should be selected by the end of July.   The site is going through many updates now, so keep watching!
